Four people were hospitalized after a single-vehicle collision in Salinas on Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2024. 

According to the Salinas Police Department, the crash happened around 5:53 p.m. at N. Davis Road and W. Laurel Drive. 

Police stated that a car was traveling on the roadway, went through the intersection, and crashed into the traffic control box for the traffic light. The force of the collision caused a wheel and the motor to rip out of the vehicle. 

Four occupants of the car were injured in the crash, and two of them had to be extricated from the wreckage. All of them were transported to Natividad Medical Center for treatment. None of them was identified by the police. 

It is unknown what caused the incident or if drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role. The investigators are searching for more evidence to determine the factors leading up to the crash.
