Two people were seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash near Groveland, Tuolumne County, on Friday night, July 26, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 5:00 p.m. along Priest Coulterville Road, south of Highway 120.

CHP said that a 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck occupied by two people was traveling northbound on Priest Coulterville Road at about 40 mph when its driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve. The Chevy then reportedly went off-road before crashing into a steep embankment.

The driver of the crashed vehicle, 24-year-old Sean M. from Fresno, and his passenger, 19-year-old Sebastian M. from Modesto, suffered major injuries as a result of the crash. Both of them were airlifted to a medical facility in Modesto for treatment. Their current conditions remain undisclosed.

The official cause of the collision is still under investigation. The investigators ruled out the possible involvement of either drugs or alcohol.
