At least one person was injured following a hit-and-run collision in Indio on Friday afternoon, July 26, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic crash happened around 4:29 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 10 just south of Atlantic Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene, CHP found a light blue vehicle “totaled” in the center divide of the freeway. It is said that at least one person was hurt in the crash, but officers did not confirm if the injured person was the driver or a passenger of the wrecked car.

Additional information about the injured person’s identity, including their name, age, and gender, was not disclosed immediately. The extent of the injury sustained and their current condition were also unclear.

The circumstances behind the incident remain unclear. CHP has yet to describe the suspect and the vehicle involved officially. Currently, no arrests have been made.
