[07-20-2024] 22-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized After Police Chase Led To Pedestrian Vs. Vehicle Crash in OaklandA 22-year-old woman was hospitalized after a police chase led to a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash in Oakland on Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2024.

According to the authorities, the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. at the Fruitvale Avenue and Foothill Boulevard intersection.

It all started as a police chase across the bay involving the Daly City Police Department and ended when the suspect vehicle, a gray Lexus, struck a woman who was just birthday shopping. According to a witness, the pedestrian went up in the air and violently fell on the floor after being struck by the vehicle.

The victim, who was only described as a 22-year-old woman, reportedly got hit as soon as she stepped out of a store. She was rushed to a nearby hospital after sustaining unspecified injuries and is currently in an undisclosed condition. Apart from her age, no other information about the victim was released at the time of writing.

Witnesses then told the authorities that they saw a man in his twenties jumping out of the Lexus and running away from the scene on foot. Two people reportedly got away, while one suspect was arrested. It is still unclear why the Daly Police were chasing the suspects in the first place.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. It is not immediately known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Further details will be provided as soon as they become available. Police work is underway.
