A man was killed, and a woman was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Madera County early Thursday morning, July 18, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:45 a.m. on Avenue 12 east of Road 25.
Authorities stated that a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound at approximately 55 mph on Avenue 12 just east of Road 25. Meanwhile, a man and a woman were walking on the roadway when they were hit by the Chevrolet.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman suffered major injuries. Both of them were not yet identified by the investigators. As of this writing, there is no word yet on the current condition of the woman.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but DUI does not appear to have been a factor. Additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
