[07-17-2024] Cyclist Killed After Bicycle Vs. Vehicle Collision on Santa Fe Road A cyclist was killed after a bicycle vs. vehicle collision in San Joaquin County on Wednesday morning, July 17, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 5:54 a.m. on Santa Fe Road, south of Hall Road, and north of Riverbank. 

Authorities stated that a man was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado at 50 mph when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle struck the bicyclist from behind. According to the driver, he did not see the cyclist on the bike as he approached. 

Police said that one of the bike tires got stuck in another pickup truck passing by following the crash. The bicycle rider, whose name and age were not disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the two pickup drivers were uninjured. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but DUI was ruled out as a possible factor in the collision. 

CHP is still gathering all the necessary information regarding the incident. Further details have yet to be released.
