A pedestrian was killed after being struck by at least two vehicles in San Diego late Tuesday night, July 16, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on the southbound I-5 lanes near Palm Avenue in the Nestor Area.
Authorities stated that a pedestrian was on the southbound of the freeway when they were struck by the vehicles. The total number of cars involved was not clear, but CHP confirmed that at least two vehicles hit the victim.
The pedestrian, whose name, age, and gender were not immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the drivers involved in the fatal crash remained at the scene and spoke to the investigators. One of them was evaluated by paramedics.
As of this writing, the cause of the crash is unclear. It is unknown whether drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role.
