[07-16-2024] At Least One Person Killed Following Vehicle Vs. Semi-Truck Collision Along 91 FreewayAt least one person was killed following a vehicle vs. semi-truck collision in Riverside early Tuesday morning, July 16, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal freeway crash happened at about 2:08 a.m. at the junction of the eastbound Riverside (91) Freeway and the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway.

Reports indicate that the crash involved a gray SUV and a semi-trailer truck. It is said that the SUV, for some reason, struck the back of the semi, causing heavy damage to both vehicles and severe injuries to at least one person.

When responding CHP officers arrived, they found a body slumped in the middle lanes of the 91 Freeway along with the damaged vehicles involved. The victim, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed yet, was declared dead at the scene by the responders. 

It is still unclear if the deceased was the driver of the SUV or the semi-truck. No other injuries were reported at this time.

As a precaution, CHP blocked off certain parts of both freeways for several hours while they investigated and cleared the scene.

No further information was immediately available, and the authorities are still gathering all the necessary details to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
