An 88-year-old man was killed after a four-vehicle collision near Stockton on Friday afternoon, July 12, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 12:38 p.m. along Highway 4 near Gillis Road.
Authorities stated that the collision involved a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, a 2021 Dodge Ram pickup, a 2022 Honda Civic, and a 2015 Ford F550 crane truck. The Chevy was traveling eastbound on the highway when it came to a stop, waiting to turn left onto Gillis Road.
Meanwhile, the two vehicles behind the Chevy, the Dodge Ram pickup and the Honda Civic, also slowed to a stop. However, the Ford hit the rear of the Honda Civic, resulting in a four-vehicle chain-reaction pileup.
The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as an 88-year-old man, went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene. As of this writing, it is unknown if anyone else was injured.
Further information has yet to be released by the authorities.
