Published July 8, 2024

One person was killed, while four others were injured following a suspected two-vehicle DUI crash in Willowbrook, Los Angeles County, early Saturday morning, July 6, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened at about 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of Central Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard.

CHP said that 32-year-old Kimberly D. from Los Angeles was driving a 2012 Toyota going south on Central Avenue. At the same time, a 2012 Infiniti with multiple passengers was traveling northbound on the same road. The Infiniti reportedly turned left onto El Segundo Boulevard at the intersection when, for some reason, the Toyota did not stop moving forward, resulting in a broadside collision.

One passenger of the Infiniti, later identified as 22-year-old Brenda M., died at the scene as a result of the incident. Another passenger, 20-year-old Sharlyn V., was rushed to the hospital after sustaining moderate injuries. The Infiniti’s driver, only described as a man, reportedly fled the scene and is yet to be located.

Meanwhile, two passengers in the Toyota, both juveniles, were also transported to local hospitals after suffering moderate to major injuries. Their driver, Kimberly D., was arrested at the scene before she was hospitalized for moderate injuries as well.

CHP is still investigating the traffic collision, but it is believed that alcohol or drug impairment played a role in it. The current condition of the victims was not immediately known.

Anyone with information about the other circumstances surrounding the incident or the whereabouts of the runaway Infiniti driver is asked to contact the authorities at (424) 551-4000.
