[07-03-2024] Kings County, CA- 38-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Hit-And-Run Vehicle on 16th Avenue

A 38-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Kings County on Wednesday morning, July 3, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 4:00 a.m. on Kent and 16th Avenues, just southeast of the Tachi Palace Casino Resort.

Authorities stated that the pedestrian, described as a 38-year-old man from Lemoore, was in the eastbound lane of Kent when he was struck by a Kia. He sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police said the Kia driver abandoned the car and fled on foot without helping the victim. As of this writing, the suspect is at large, and the investigators are asking witnesses to come forward and share what they know. 

The cause of the crash remains unclear. It is unknown whether drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role.
