Three people were hospitalized following a suspected two-vehicle DUI collision in Pacific Beach, San Diego, on Sunday evening, June 30, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Mission Bay Drive and the northbound US Interstate 5 off-ramp.
Authorities stated that a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 34-year-old man, broadsided a Toyota Prius. The driver of the Chevy suffered a ruptured lung, while the driver of the Prius, described as a 76-year-old man, told the authorities that he was in pain. The passenger in the Toyota also sustained a ruptured diaphragm, which was described as life-threatening.
All three involved individuals were transported to the hospital for further treatment. Their current condition is unknown as of this writing.
Police said the Chevy driver is suspected of driving under the influence. A full collision report will be issued once it becomes available.
