A baby was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Los Angeles late Monday night, July 1, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division, the incident occurred around 11:58 p.m. at West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Halldale Avenue within the Exposition Park neighborhood.

The circumstances surrounding the vehicular accident remain unclear, but authorities said that the infant was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. What the baby was doing in the roadway was undisclosed. No other injuries were reported at this time.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the baby stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. It is not immediately known if the driver was intoxicated during the crash.

Further information was not immediately available, and the LAPD is still examining all the evidence found to determine the cause of the collision.
