INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT?

[06-26-2024] Madera County, CA – At Least Two People Injured Following Three-Vehicle Collision Along Avenue 17

Published June 28, 2024

At least two people were injured following a three-vehicle collision in Madera on Wednesday morning, June 26, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic incident occurred around 10:53 a.m. on Avenue 17, east of Avon Way.

The crash reportedly involved a 2009 Honda, a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, and a Nissan. The Honda was in front of the Chevy going east on Avenue 17. At the same time, the Nissan was also traveling eastbound on the same roadway close to the two vehicles mentioned.

Initial reports suggest that the Honda attempted to overtake the Nissan on its left side. While doing so, the Chevy driver behind failed to slow down, rear-ending the Nissan being passed.

The impact caused the Nissan driver to lose control of the vehicle, causing it to veer to the left and collide with the right side of the passing Honda along the center turn lane. The Nissan then bounced back to the right and crashed into a raised curb and a nearby power pole before rolling onto its roof.

Meanwhile, the Chevy that supposedly started the incident also veered to the right side of the roadway and overturned before resting on its roof.

Both the Chevy and Honda drivers suffered moderate injuries as a result of the collision. During the investigation, officers discovered that the two confirmed injured individuals knew each other. There is no word yet on the condition of the Nissan driver.

None of the parties involved were immediately identified.

CHP is still investigating the true cause of the accident. The agency had since ruled out drugs or alcohol as possible factors.

No further details were provided at this time.
