A female pedestrian was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Potomac Park, Kern County, on Sunday night, June 23, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 11:17 p.m. in the area of California Avenue and Ogden Street, near Beverly Drive.
Authorities stated that a pedestrian, identified only as a female, was walking southerly across the westbound lanes of California Avenue outside of the crosswalk. An unspecified vehicle traveling westbound at an unknown speed hit the pedestrian and drove away. The suspect did not render help or call 911 following the incident.
The pedestrian sustained injuries and was transported to Kern Medical, where she died. Her name, age, and place of origin were not disclosed as of this writing. It is unknown what caused the collision or if drugs and alcohol played a role.
