An 8-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Imperial on Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2024.
According to the Imperial Police Department, the crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. at Barioni Boulevard and D Street.
Authorities stated that an 8-year-old boy was hit by a white Hyundai Elantra along the roadway. He sustained injuries and was flown to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego for treatment. As of writing, the extent of injuries and the condition of the victim were not disclosed.
Police said that the driver of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Hanna W. of Imperial, fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. The responding officers spent about 45 minutes looking for the suspect before the driver returned to the scene on her own. Hanna W. was taken into custody on charges of felony hit-and-run.
Further information on the collision has yet to be released by the authorities.
