A passenger was killed, and a driver was hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash in Hesperia on Wednesday afternoon, June 19, 2024.
According to the Hesperia Police Department, the fatal collision happened around 3:05 p.m. in the 19100 block of Yucca Street.
Authorities stated that a blue Mini Cooper was traveling east on Yucca Street when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and crashed into a chain-link fence. Due to the impact of the collision, the vehicle overturned several times across a front yard and struck the fascia and roof of a home before it came to rest.
The driver, identified only as a man, was pulled from the vehicle by the good Samaritans. He was unconscious and transported by ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital. As of this writing, his condition was not immediately known.
Further investigation showed that the vehicle had two occupants. A second occupant was found in a pile of debris next to a white trailer on the property. Authorities declared the second victim dead at the scene.
There is no word yet on the official cause of the collision. It is unknown if drugs, alcohol, or speeding contributed to the crash.
