A scooter rider was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Los Osos, San Luis Obispo County, on Thursday night, June 13, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. along Los Osos Valley Road west of Sunset Drive.
Authorities stated that a 35-year-old man was riding a Honda Elite scooter eastbound when he was hit by a Hyundai Elantra that was pulling out of a parking lot and crossing LOVR northbound. Due to the severity of the collision, the scooter rider was thrown onto the roadway and suffered major injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai failed to stop and fled the scene going westbound on LOVR. Details on the suspect’s identity were not provided at this time. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol contributed as factors in the crash.
