A rider was seriously injured after a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision in Fontana late Tuesday night, June 11, 2024.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the traffic incident occurred at about 11:42 p.m. along southbound Locust Avenue.

Police said that the victim was riding an unspecified motorcycle heading south on Locust Avenue when, for some reason, the car in front of him suddenly backed up, resulting in a crash. There is no word yet on the make or model of the involved car.

At first, it was believed that the rider suffered fatal injuries after being taken to the hospital. However, his condition reportedly improved dramatically, and he is now expected to survive. The victim’s name, age, and origin were not disclosed. 

Locust Avenue’s northbound and southbound lanes were both blocked off for about an hour as a precaution while investigators did their work.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Police remind all motorcyclists to wear helmets whenever they are on the road.
