[05-23-2024] Two People Injured Following Single-Vehicle Collision in New Priest GradeTwo people were injured following a single-vehicle collision in New Priest Grade, Tuolumne County, on Thursday morning, May 23, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 9:15 a.m. west of Highway 120. 

Authorities stated that a 2015 GMC 2500 black pickup truck crashed into a power pole, affecting more than 2,100 Pacific Gas and Electric customers. The vehicle overturned several times down the steep slope below New Priest Grade. 

Two people were reportedly injured, including the driver, identified as 71-year-old Vernan G., and his passenger Jane G., 71, of Mokelumne Hill. Their dog succumbed to its injuries and died in the crash. 

Both victims were transported to a hospital for immediate treatment. The extent of injuries remains unclear. 

The authorities have yet to release additional details on the collision. No further information was disclosed at this time. 

Investigations are ongoing.
