[05-17-2024] Female Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle in BerkeleyA female pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Berkeley on Friday night, May 17, 2024.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, the pedestrian vs. vehicle crash happened at about 9:00 p.m. around the Grant Street and University Avenue intersection.

BPD said that a vehicle driven by a Vacaville man in his 20s was going north on Grant Street when it struck a pedestrian as it was turning onto University Avenue. It is said that the pedestrian was on the crosswalk when the collision occurred.

The victim, a Berkeley woman, also in her 20s, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Highland Hospital for treatment. She has since been released from the medical facility to recover at home, said the police.

The male driver reportedly remained at the crash site and cooperated with the authorities. He appears to have been uninjured.

No further details were immediately provided. BPD is still investigating the accident to determine its cause and the factors that may have contributed to it.
