A 15-year-old male passenger was killed, while a teenage driver was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash in south Nevada County on Saturday evening, May 11, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at about 7:30 p.m. on a private property around the southern end of the county, east of Dog Bar Road.
CHP said that an ATV driven by a 14-year-old teenager with a passenger crashed into private property around the area for some reason. The incident occurred 16 miles south of Grass Valley and approximately 47 miles northeast of Sacramento.
The passenger reportedly suffered major head trauma as a result of the accident. He was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where he died. The deceased was later identified as part of the Bear River Baseball program, 15-year-old Nathan C.
Meanwhile, the juvenile ATV driver was also taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. There was no immediate information available about the driver’s identity or relationship with the deceased.
CHP is still investigating the cause of the collision. Several factors were ruled out, including drugs and alcohol.
