A male pedestrian was killed following a hit-and-run collision in Oxnard on Monday morning, May 13, 2024.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the fatal crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. around La Colonia neighborhood near Garfield Avenue and Cooper Road.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, who remains unidentified, lying in the middle of the street. He was pronounced dead shortly after. It is also still unclear what the victim was doing along the roadway prior to the accident.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian reportedly fled the area before police arrived, making the case a hit-and-run. It is believed that the suspect vehicle is a dark blue 4-door sedan.
Currently, police do not have any type of identifying information pertaining to the damage to the vehicle in question or its license plate.
The fatal incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police as soon as they can.
