A male bicyclist was killed following a bicycle vs. vehicle hit-and-run collision in Oxnard on Friday evening, May 3, 2024.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the deadly crash happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of Saviers Road and Pleasant Valley Road.
OPD said that the male bicyclist was going south on Saviers Road using the northbound bike lane when he was struck by a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer just outside the Speedway Express gas station at the northeast corner of the intersection.
The vehicle was exiting the gas station’s driveway and was turning right onto Saviers Road when the accident occurred, said OPD. The driver of the vehicle that struck the bicyclist then fled the scene without rendering aid.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with major injuries but was declared dead shortly after arriving at the facility. The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
Investigators believe that speed was not a factor in the incident but are still figuring out if drugs or alcohol had a role in it. The hit-and-run driver is still at large.
The investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police immediately.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
