An 11-year-old girl was killed, and others were injured following a multi-vehicle collision along Highway 41, Madera County, on Saturday afternoon, May 4, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the three-vehicle collision happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 41 at Jewels Vista Court.
Authorities stated that a man driving a cream-colored GMC Yukon was heading south on Highway 41 in the rain when he lost control of the vehicle, causing him to turn sideways into the northbound lane.
As a result, the driver of a silver Chevy Silverado approaching north crashed into the right side of the GMC. Another driver heading south in a white Buick Enclave attempted to avoid the crash but ended up hitting the Silverado.
Police said that an 11-year-old girl inside the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants of GMC suffered moderate injuries, and another two people in that same car sustained major injuries. They were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
The man driving the Silverado and a passenger in the Buick had minor injuries due to the collision.
No further information was released. Investigations are ongoing.
