A driver was killed, and two passengers were injured following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 118, Ventura County, on Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. between Somis and Moorpark.
Authorities stated that four vehicles were involved in the collision, including a black Ford Raptor pickup truck, a white Toyota Highlander, a white Ford Transit-250 van, and a black Honda Civic.
Police said that the Raptor and the Civic were able to reduce their speed as the traffic slowed down. However, the driver of the Ford Transit van was not able to immediately slow down. The van veered left and crashed into the left rear of the Honda Civic, causing the Civic to rear-end the Ford Raptor.
As a result, the van went into the opposing lane and collided head-on with an oncoming white Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, and two passengers suffered moderate injuries.
Further details regarding the collision have yet to be released by the authorities.
