A passenger was seriously injured after a two-vehicle collision in San Ysidro, San Diego, early Saturday morning, April 27, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred at around 3:50 a.m. near the 1800 block of Howard Avenue.
SDPD said that a 22-year-old driver fell asleep behind the wheel while driving north on Howard Avenue, causing the car to crash into a 49-year-old man’s Toyota 4Runner that had a passenger inside.
The impact of the crash reportedly caused the seats of the 4Runner to collapse backward, injuring the passenger, who then said that they lost their feeling below their waist. The victim suffered fractured thoracic vertebrae and was transported to a local hospital.
SDPD is still investigating the cause of the accident but confirmed that intoxicated driving did not play a factor in it.
Additional information was not immediately available. Potential witnesses are urged to contact the authorities.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
