A 34-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash in San Diego on Friday night, April 19, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the pedestrian vs. vehicle incident happened at about 10:41 p.m. at 3300 Genesee Avenue, around the Clairemont Mesa West neighborhood.
SDPD said that the pedestrian was walking along Genesee near the west curb, close to a buffer zone between the traffic lane and a bike lane. An unknown southbound vehicle then struck the woman before accelerating away without the driver pausing to check on her.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim sitting on the roadway next to a passing motorist. She sustained serious injuries, including a laceration to the back of the head and a pelvic fracture, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The whereabouts of the suspect vehicle and its driver are still undetermined. There was also no official description of either the involved vehicle or its driver released at this time.
Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run incident is urged to contact the authorities post-haste. Police work is underway.
