[04-24-2024] Los Angeles County, CA – Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit by Fleeing Suspect in Central-Alameda

A bicyclist was killed after being hit by a fleeing suspect in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of Los Angeles early Wednesday morning, April 24, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal collision occurred at about 6:10 a.m. on Hooper Avenue between 46th Street and Vernon Avenue.

A burglary suspect was reportedly being chased by the police when the cyclist was struck. The driver continued traveling northbound before slamming into several vehicles and flipping over.

The victim, an adult male, was declared dead. The identity of the deceased remains undisclosed, pending notification of the next of kin.

Additional reports indicate that someone jumped out of the SUV. The authorities arrested at least one suspect.

The collision also damaged a power pole, causing a power outage for some residents. An investigation into the incident is underway.
