An elderly female pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run collision in Bell Gardens on Thursday night, April 4, 2024.
According to the Bell Gardens Police Department, the fatal crash happened just before 8:00 p.m. in the 6800 block of Gage Avenue at the Chalet Drive intersection.
BGPD’s initial investigations suggest that a dark-colored sedan going east on Gage Avenue struck the elderly victim, later identified as Janet Y., before fleeing the area. The victim, who had six children and six grandchildren, was said to be crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk when she was hit.
Upon arrival, responders saw the victim unconscious. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
No description of the suspect nor the involved vehicle has been released as of yet.
