A male pedestrian was killed following a hit-and-run crash in east-central Fresno in the early hours of Thursday, April 4, 2024.
According to the Fresno Police Department, the fatal incident happened just after midnight on southbound Chestnut Avenue, south of Clinton Avenue.
Upon arrival, the police saw a man in his 30s lying in the middle of the road with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. The victim’s identity remains unknown, but he was later determined to be a part of the unhoused community in Fresno.
The police said that the driver of the vehicle that hit the victim quickly fled the area after the collision. The hit-and-run driver is still at large, and no description of the suspect or the vehicle involved has been released yet.
