[09-21-2023] Pedestrian Killed Following Train Collision in DelanoA pedestrian was killed after a train collision in Delano on Thursday morning, September 21, 2023.

Union Pacific Railroad officials said the incident occurred on the tracks near High Street and Cecil Avenue at around 9:50 a.m.

Authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will reveal the victim’s identity at a later time. Members of the train’s crew sustained no injuries.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the crash and why the pedestrian was on the tracks.
