According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 5:57 a.m. along the southbound lane of US-101, south of Palmer Boulevard.

The pedestrian, a Fortuna resident named Ashley H., was either walking or lying when she was struck in her left leg by an unknown driver who left the scene.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital, where her condition remains unknown.

The authorities are currently in search for the suspect, and investigations remain underway.
