[09-11-2023] One Killed, Several Others Injured Following Tow-Truck Rollover Crash Near Caliente CreekA 68-year-old male driver was killed, and several others were injured following a tow truck rollover crash near Bakersfield on Monday, September 11, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the crash along Caliente Bodfish Road, north of Caliente Creek.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the 2010 Kentworth flatbed towtruck driven by the senior Bakersfield driver was towing a Mazda with occupants inside when he lost control while traveling at unsafe speeds.

Officials said the driver sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene. Reports did not indicate how many were inside the Mazda during the incident, but all the occupants in the Mazda and a passenger of the Kenworth were taken to Kern Medical for minor injuries.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the incident, and investigations are still being carried out.
