[08-27-2023] – Solano County, CA – Person Driving Scooter Fatally Struck By DUI Driver in Fairfield

A person driving a motor scooter was struck and killed by an impaired driver on Wednesday night in Fairfield Solano County, August 27, 2023.

Fairfield Police responded to reports of a collision involving a motor scooter and a 2001 Honda Accord around 10:45 p.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the scooter driver was initially crossing the intersection between Travis Boulevard and Clay Street.

The rider suffered critical injuries and was declared dead on the scene when paramedics arrived.

Police identified the driver of the Honda Accord as 60-year-old Willie W. from Fairfield, and he was immediately arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Authorities are withholding the identity of the male scooter rider for the meantime.
