A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a pickup truck in a crosswalk at Morgan Street and College Avenue in Santa Rosa on Wednesday evening, December 31, 2025.
According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 7:13 p.m. and found a man in his 70s unresponsive in the roadway.
The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Investigators said the man was crossing College Avenue in the eastern crosswalk when he was struck by a blue 2019 Toyota Tacoma traveling at approximately 35 miles per hour.
Police said the driver fled the scene but later contacted dispatch about 24 minutes after the crash. The driver was identified as Brigido V., 31, of Greenfield, and was later arrested and booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing serious bodily injury. Authorities stated there was no evidence that alcohol was a factor in the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
