A 76-year-old Clearlake Oaks woman was fatally injured in a collision with a semi-truck near Clearlake Oaks, Lake County, early Tuesday morning, December 24, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:26 a.m. on State Route 53, south of State Route 20.
The woman, driving a 2000 Lexus RX3 southbound on State Route 53, attempted a U-turn from the southbound shoulder, colliding with a 2015 Peterbilt truck tractor driven by 57-year-old Javier J. of Williams.
The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of her family.
The truck driver was uninjured and remained at the scene. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts. Authorities have not determined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
