[12-23-2024] Family Hospitalized After Drunk Driver Causes Rollover Crash on Highway 116A family was hospitalized after their car was struck and overturned in a crash caused by a drunk driver on Highway 116 near the Highway 101 on-ramp in Cotati on Monday, December 23, 2024.

According to the Cotati Police Department, the incident occurred when a male driver, whose blood alcohol content was determined to be 3.5 times the legal limit, struck the family’s car, causing it to flip onto its side.

Officers arrived at the scene to find the overturned car with several children trapped inside. Emergency crews worked to extract the passengers, while bystanders stayed at the scene to assist the family.

The suspect attempted to flee the scene but was located and arrested for DUI and felony hit-and-run.

The family members were transported to the hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.

The incident remains under investigation.
