An 8-month-old girl was killed, and three adults were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Vincent Road in Merced County on Tuesday night, December 17, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Vincent Road, north of Harding Road, roughly two miles north of Delhi.

A 20-year-old man from Delhi was driving a gray Honda Civic southbound on Vincent Road with a 20-year-old woman and an 8-month-old girl as passengers. At the same time, a 43-year-old woman from Turlock was traveling northbound in a white Toyota Highlander.

CHP investigators stated that the Honda veered off the west shoulder of Vincent Road and then swerved into the northbound lane, where it collided with the Toyota. The Honda subsequently struck a fence while the Toyota came to rest, blocking both lanes of Vincent Road.

The Honda’s driver and passenger sustained major injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. The 8-month-old girl was also taken to a hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to a hospital, but the extent of her injuries has not been disclosed.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash, including whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
