A teenage boy was struck and killed by an SUV at the intersection of Camino Ruiz and Hydra Lane in San Diego’s Mira Mesa community late Saturday night, December 13, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred around 11:10 p.m. when a white 2020 Chevrolet Traverse traveling northbound on Camino Ruiz struck the boy.
Authorities stated that it was unclear which direction the pedestrian was traveling in at the time of the crash, and foggy conditions were reported in the area. The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 40-year-old man, was not injured.
Police stated that driving under the influence was not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
