A 44-year-old bicyclist sustained major injuries after being struck by a car in Oxnard’s La Colonia neighborhood on Friday morning, December 13, 2024.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the collision occurred around 7:55 a.m. at the intersection of First Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
The man, who was riding a fixed-gear bicycle without brakes, was traveling westbound on First Street when a northbound 2022 Toyota Camry struck him, knocking him off his bike.
The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition as of Friday afternoon.
The driver of the Toyota, a 20-year-old Oxnard resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The crash remains under investigation.
