A 6-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle on northbound Interstate 280 south of Leland Avenue in San Jose late Friday night, December 13, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. when the boy, who was on the right shoulder of the freeway, ran into the center lane. A 2024 Nissan Altima, driven by a 36-year-old man from San Jose, collided with the child.
Emergency responders arrived and transported the boy to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver’s condition remains unknown, and authorities have not confirmed whether the driver sustained any injuries.
