Multiple vehicle crashes shut down Vasco Road in Alameda County during heavy fog on Friday, December 12, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Vasco Road was closed in both directions on the Livermore and Brentwood sides after several collisions were reported.
The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said a total of four crashes occurred along the roadway, where fog limited visibility to about a quarter mile.
While emergency crews were responding to the incidents, a fire captain was struck by a vehicle around 1:20 p.m. and suffered a lower extremity injury. The captain was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities urged drivers to slow down and use caution in the area due to the hazardous conditions. CHP later announced that Vasco Road reopened at approximately 4:00 p.m.
The cause of the crashes is under investigation.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
