[12-11-2025] Modesto Man Killed After Head-On Collision on Albers Road South of Dusty LaneA 55-year-old Modesto man was killed in a head-on collision on Albers Road south of Dusty Lane, which is east of Modesto,  early Thursday morning, December 11, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 3:35 a.m. and found a Chrysler sedan and a Nissan pickup truck with major damage. Preliminary findings indicate the Chrysler, driven by a 23-year-old man from Winton, Merced County, was traveling southbound when it entered the northbound lane and collided head-on with the pickup truck. The pickup driver died at the scene. The sedan driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Oak Valley Hospital. CHP did not release information on whether he was detained.

Authorities said it was unknown whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Albers Road was temporarily closed during the investigation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
