One person was dead, and another was severely injured after a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Mountain View early Monday, December 9, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred at approximately 1:35 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Shoreline Boulevard exit.
A sedan traveling northbound struck the center divider, killing the driver at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed.
A passenger in the sedan sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The collision caused debris to scatter across the highway, puncturing the tires of multiple vehicles in the vicinity.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
