A 63-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck after a hit-and-run collision on East Main Street in El Cajon on Sunday evening, December 8, 2024.
According to police, the westbound pickup truck hit the man as he was crossing the roadway in the 1300 block of East Main Street at approximately 5:15 p.m.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, Lt. Darrin Forster reported.
Investigators used surveillance footage to identify the involved vehicle as a 2005 Dodge Ram and tracked down the suspected driver, a 64-year-old man. The suspect agreed to meet officers near the site of the incident and was taken into custody.
The name of the driver has not yet been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
