[12-03-2025] Teen Bicyclist Dragged for Blocks After Alleged DUI Driver Strikes Him at Cottage Grove Avenue and South Norfolk StreetA 15-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck and dragged for several blocks by an alleged DUI driver in San Mateo on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

According to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, 24-year-old Brayan G. was driving while intoxicated when he veered into the bike lane at Cottage Grove Avenue and South Norfolk Street and hit the teenager riding an electric bicycle. 

The boy and his bicycle were dragged for two blocks before the teen fell off. Brayan continued driving for several more blocks, still dragging the bicycle, before crashing into two parked vehicles.

San Mateo Police officers later found Brayan hiding under a parked vehicle and recovered 0.5 grams of methamphetamine from his possession. Prosecutors said officers also found 14 empty beer cans inside the suspect’s car. The extent of the teen’s injuries has not been released.

Brayan pleaded not guilty to charges including driving under the influence of a drug causing injury, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of hit-and-run causing property damage, and drug possession. A preliminary hearing is set for December 18. He remains in custody with bail set at 50,000 dollars.

The investigation is ongoing.
