According to the Cathedral City Police Department, officers responded around 4:20 p.m. at Date Palm and Tachevah drives and found two vehicles with significant damage. 

Both drivers were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for complaints of pain. Police said Raymond J. of Cathedral City was pronounced dead by hospital staff shortly before 1:00 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
