A driver died after their Nissan Sentra went off southbound Highway 99 and collided with a pole near Highway 180 in Fresno on Wednesday night, December 3, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 10:30 p.m. after callers reported multiple vehicles striking an engine block in the far-left lane of southbound Highway 99, just south of Highway 180. Officers also found the Nissan Sentra down an embankment in the same area.
Investigators said the Sentra had been traveling southbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the driver made an unsafe turn to the right, went down the embankment, and hit an overhead sign pole. The impact caused the vehicle’s engine to separate and land in the freeway lanes, where it was struck by three passing vehicles.
Emergency crews transported the unconscious driver to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died. The driver’s name has not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
