[12-02-2024] Cyclist Critically Injured in Bicycle-Minivan Collision on Pacific Coast HighwayA 61-year-old bicyclist from Westlake Village sustained critical injuries after a collision with a minivan on Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) near Sycamore Cove in Ventura County on Monday afternoon, December 2, 2024.

The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on northbound PCH, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Ryan Ayala.

Emergency responders arrived to find the bicyclist unresponsive but breathing. Due to the severity of the injuries, a helicopter was dispatched, halting traffic in both directions to airlift the cyclist to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, where he remains in critical condition.

The minivan driver remained at the scene, called 911, and cooperated with authorities. CHP confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the collision, and no citations were issued.

The CHP Ventura office is actively investigating the incident.
